5U - Blastball

Age Requirements:

5U is designed for children who are born in 2017 or, if born in 2018, will be 4 years old as of April 1, 2022. The goal for Blastball is to teach your child the FUNdamentals of baseball (hitting, throwing, running, fielding and catching. The emphasis is on fun.

Parents are required to assist on the field with their child and help the coach with practices.

No play ups will be granted from 5U to 7U.

Schedule:

Blastball teams meet once a week - on Saturdays, 9:00-9:45am. The season is scheduled to begin mid-April and run through mid-June. 5U teams practice will be at Carnarvon Park.

Gear Requirements:

Your child will receive a team t-shirt and Carnarvon Ball Club hat on the first day of the season. This is their uniform, so please ensure that they wear it each time they come. They will also need a batting helmet, glove, and athletic support. Please ensure that you mark your child's name in everything. A white label or masking tape works well on the outside of the batting helmet and handwritten on labels in shirts, glove and hats.

Coaches & Team Selection:

This league is run entirely by volunteers. Thank you to those of you that volunteer to coach this season! This is where the base of our coaching staff is formed...it only gets better from here. We'll train coaches and prepare them for many years of solid coaching so that you can have quality time on field with your children. Teams will be assembled once registration is closed at the beginning of March, so if you have anyone else that you would like to recruit, please get them to do so as soon as possible. Teams will be selected so that they have a mix of ages and genders. We will also endeavour to meet at least one friend or coach request, but no guarantees can be made.

Field Prep:

Near the start of the season we will have our annual pre-season park clean-up day. The more hands available to help, the more efficiently the work will get done. It is a great kick-off to the season and a demonstration of the community at work.
