2018 Bantam AA City Champions

After a dominating performance by Carnarvon Ace Graeme Glynn and some hot bats in a 20-5 Semi Final win over Gordon Head, Carnarvon's Bantam AA Astros advanced to the 2018 City Championship Final against Triangle at Luxton Field.

Carnarvon's hitting continued where they left off in the Semis, scoring five runs in the first inning - including a lead off solo home run by starting pitcher Ryder Knox- and adding another three runs in the second inning.

The Astros' starting battery of Knox and Jasper Calder behind the plate made short work of the Triangle batters through the second.  Strong fielding by Ryan Thomas in left field, Ethan Farquhar at 2nd and Luca Bolzonello on 1st - as well as some circus catches by Charlie Walmsley in right field- kept the Astros on top.  But as they have done all season, Triangle clawed their way back to even after four innings.

Lucas O'Keefe came in to pitch in relief in the fourth, as both teams kept it tight and traded runs.  It was 10-10 after five innings and 12-12 going into the top of the seventh.   With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Knox hit a double to score 2 and make it 14-12.

With the help of some quality defense, O'Keefe closed the door to give the Astros the win and Carnarvon the 2018 Bantam AA City Championship trophy.

After hosting the Bantam AA Provincial Championships last year, Carnarvon qualified to compete in Provincials again this year in Ladner August 1-5.
