Carnarvon Ball Club is proud to announce the re-branding of the Softball Division to "Carnarvon Fastball". The new name sounds pretty cool but you're probably wondering why the name change so here is some background information for you.
Carnarvon has been affiliated with South Vancouver Island Fastpitch locally and Softball BC provincially since 2005. SVI Fastpitch is an Association of the 14 local Associations in District 1 of Softball BC that oversees league play, Softball BC is the provincial governing umbrella for Slowpitch and Fastpitch. Since Softball is a sport in which the pitcher can pitch underhand (Slowpitch) or windmill (Fastpitch) almost all of the other Associations over the last few years have transitioned to using Fastball as it is actually a more technical name for the game we play, windmill style Fastpitch along with the rules of Baseball (Fast-Ball). We are one of the last clubs in District 1 to adopt the updated name so we thought it would good to update our name at the same time we celebrate our upcoming 15th season at Fireman's Park!
That being said, we are proud to offer the same great game and the same great coaches under an updated name to better reflect the game. Speaking of coaches, we are proud to announce our great group of Head Coaches for 2020;
U8 (2012-13) - Laura Werner
U10 (2011) - Owen Stacey
U10 (2010) - Russell Mackie
